1. Read a lot of children's books.
Go to the library and visit the
children's section for hours. Check them out. Check out Young Adult
books as well. You are in for some fun reading.

2. Choose a book at the library (or book store) based on your first

3. Look over lists such as this for ideas.

4. Look at the Banned Books.
Sometimes these are the most fun.
You can compare this list and the award-winning lists to the banned
books list and find surprising similarities!

5. Try to recall books from your childhood. Visiting children's books
will help you remember.

6. Look books up online. You can see the cover of the books and
sometimes get a sneak peak inside. Ones from your own childhood
should ring a bell.

7. As you read, you will find that you are
preferring certain authors or
subjects or illustrators.

8. If you are a teacher,
look for books that compliment your
